Day 01 · example check-in
Missed a session? Woke up sore? Twinged something?
Umber looks at how you actually are today, then gives you the best next step towards your goals.
Some days you’re flying. Others you're not. Umber starts from how you are, not from how your programme said you’d be.
These examples are genuine Umber outputs. The readiness scores, workouts and rest advice come straight from Umber’s engine.

Start with what you’re working towards and what to protect. After that, start working out and let Umber learn how you respond best.
Choose a preset look to aim for, or set each region goal yourself. Umber will use this to adapt your training priorities automatically.
Set any area to Train carefully or Avoid for now and Umber plans accordingly.
Every exercise earns a score for each muscle it trains. It’s calculated from how that exercise works for you, not how it works for everyone.
STIMULUS: How well you feel the exercise works the target muscle. EXPERIENCE: Your enjoyment, fatigue, and discomfort ratings for the exercise. PROGRESS: How your performance on this exercise has changed over time. RECOVERY: How easy or hard the exercise is on your body. PREFERENCE: Whether you love it, feel neutral about it or dislike it.
No wearable or third-party system needed. Umber works from how you say you feel and the sets you log - that's it!
A fixed programme turns a missed session into a debt. Umber doesn’t keep a schedule: it starts from how you are today and what you’ve actually done.
A fixed programme
Every session has its day. Miss one and watch what happens. One missed session and the whole week slides. Now you’re “behind”, with a make-up session to do.
Umber
Umber keeps a record of what you’ve actually done, never a timetable of what you owe.Miss a session and nothing’s owed. Check in, and Umber builds today’s workout from how you are right now.
What’s sore, what’s niggling and how long you’ve got are weighed before Umber ranks a single exercise.
Your goals and your training history inform which of the exercises that remain are worth your time today.
The sets and feedback you log shape what Umber recommends later.
A note from the founder
I’d spend ages planning the perfect routine, only to miss a session, feel too sore or twinge something, and suddenly I’d be on the back foot and lose motivation.
Having Umber means I can roll with life’s surprises, and my training’s more consistent than ever!

Fixed training splits programme volume and exercises based on the split-maker's experience and body. umber instead generates the right workout for your body on demand - factoring in your personal constraints, goals, history, and preferences. So, if you miss a session, there's no rigid schedule to catch up on: umber helps you work out what makes sense for your next workout.
As long as you're honestly filling in the check-in, umber will know when it's better for you to rest. If your check-in leaves too little worthwhile training, umber will recommend a rest day. You can still override that recommendation and request the most sympathetic viable session if you're desperate to get a session in.
Each workout, you'll log completed sets, reps, load, and intensity, plus optional feedback for each exercise which really helps umber adapt to your biomechanics and physiology.
No. umber's core recommendations come from explicit, deterministic training logic, not a generative AI model improvising a plan. Your check-in, constraints, goals and logged history go in, and a defined set of rules for recovery, exercise choice and progression works out what makes sense for today.
No. umber records your training-relevant readiness and provides exercise-planning guidance. It won't diagnose injuries or replace qualified medical advice.
